Corporate Windmills and Art

I believe that what Marshall McLuhan was trying to tell us in his quote is that art is something that helps us develop ideas on ways to help improve our world. In relation to the images of windmills, art helps to improve our environment. Sometimes art is used to catch people's attention, just like the media. When something so big, such as the environment, is not in so good of a condition, it may be hard to bring people's attention to the issue. So, in trying to catch people's attention, they make art. People love looking at art so using art as, let's say an ambassador between humans and the environment or other concerns, it will be a more likely chance that people see the art in which the warning sign is depicted.
In addition to the statement made that art is "an early alarm system", I think he is trying to say that art can help let us know that the world is constantly changing, naturally and technologically. Because of the windmills, energy is being conserved and the competition between companies are rising. In the first image, we can see that the company Master Card is advertising their company to people. But why choose windmills to represent such a company? It attracts young adults who is now taking part in the going green fanatics. I believe that the audiences targeted are young adults who are just starting to build up on credits.
In the second image where the art is real, I think that it is trying to tell us that what is going on, all the making of windmills and other energy conservative technologies is real. It is something that should be taken seriously. And because it was a real photo with no logo's or any slogans
running across the bottom, I assume that this is what really is an early alarm system. It doesn't try to advertise or promote anything other than being green and saving the planet.
